Carrelli/Chart One Carpet Kits - Ebay

Just curious if anyone has any knowledge or experience with Carrelli carpet kits (supplied by Chart One in the US)?

They sell them on Ebay. Carpet Kit on Ebay
I have been in touch with them and received a sample. They claim that they make some of Moss' kits. It seems very similar to Moss' sample. However Heritage's sample has a finer grain (if that's the proper word). I am still awaiting on a sample from Phoenix to compare. Overall, for $250 it's pretty nice. Opinions?

Thanks!

Hi Brandon,
The old saying, you get what you pay for.
I got samples from every vendor that was recommended.
Heritage has the best quality, and closest to original, IMOP
I went with Heritage. I am very pleased and get a lot of compliments from other Healey guys.

Brandon -

I would stay away from this. Just oen look at the picture and I already can see several things wrong with the kit, most obviously the plastic heel mats are all wrong. The gearbox cover bit is very weird (there's a non original split on the left hand side) and there shouldn't be any rear panel piece around the rear seats.

This kit is all wrong... avoid!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pukeface.gif

Hi Brandon, There does not appear to be too much physically wrong with his kits. However, considering the small price difference between his unknown kit and known Healey supply sources I would stick with the better known suppliers.--Fwiw--Keoke

Easy enough! Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll likely go with Heritage or Phoenix.

One thing he mentioned was that he offers an underfelt kit for $75 to go with the above kit. Do you know if the other kits (Heritage, Moss, etc.) come with this or is it something extra you have to purchase? Or is it necessary at all? I am planning to get new sound/heat deadening material when I purchase the carpets if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Hi Brandon, Most of the kits I am aware of come with an "Underfelt".---Keoke-?

As usual Keoke knows his stuff.
Adding to Keoke knowledge base:

One of the physically wrong things with this kit is:

Seller wrote,
"Binding has been added to cut edges to give a luxurious feel & end result !"

Original does not bind the edges.

NIT NIT NIT---- It can be ordered on any of the kits. If done properly it adds a significant bit to the price too.-- Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Hi Brandon,
Since I'm not as interested in concours correctness as in practicality, I did not use the felt. Instead, I used 1/4" thick high density closed cell polyurethane foam on the floors & tunnel. It is retained by the snapped in & removable carpets.

It does not absorb water so if the inside happens to get wet, it can happen, It's very easy to unsnap the carpets & remove the foam to thoroughly dry things. Felt can absorb huge quantities of water.

Under the loose foam is two layers of Dynamat Xtreme tightly rolled down over the thoroughly cleaned & painted floors. The Dynamat is top painted body color for cosmetics, next the foam, & topped with the carpets.

Similar on the vertical surfaces except carpet & foam permanently glued in place over the Dynamat.

Just another approach, maybe not even the best, as there have been dozens of discussions on the subject.

Hi Brandon,
I don't remember where I got it. Almost any 1/4" closed cell foam will work. The products mentioned above would be fine. Probably even better.
