Carport - car cover - sides ...

As I won't have a real garage until next summer, I'm wondering about keeping a small (hardtop) car in a carport with sides.

Carport is rated for 100mph winds and 35psi snowload; front "zips" closed. Something like:

Placed on a concrete driveway until late spring/early summer.

Thoughts?

I bought a similar setup years ago.
Attached the bases to tarmac with masonry screw anchors.
Got 'evicted' and the property owner took over ownership of the tents.
Short while later the area was hit with a wind storm.
Flying tents and frames damaged about five Jaguars.
"CAR" ma?

Sounds and looks pretty substantial. 100 mph is a lot of wind and 35 psi is a lot of snow. Steve's note above concerns me though and I have no personal experience. Well, no experience except for the wind. That does happen here rarely.

I have had them in the past. As long as you have it on pavement, You should be OK. I used one on grass one winter, it was not good. Way too much dampness.

Thanks George. Mine will be on concrete (driveway). It's the wind and snow loads I need to keep in mind.

I put my MINI in a 10'x17' laying a tarp on the gravel drive first and anchored with long spikes. Had to go out after each snow and knock it off, other than that the only problem was stuff blowing in under the door.

I have used on for a few years now to protect my Peterbilt. Tent is about 4’ taller than original configuration.
We get strong Santa ana winds and no problems. I have it ratchet strapped to the truck…don’t trust floor anchors.

My sense is that it is all about the anchors. My nephew had one - improperly anchored, wind carried it across the street where it damaged a neighbour's car. The hilarious part was him having to explain why it was a claim on his homeowners policy and not his car policy.

How much room do you have to the sides to run additional stakes? Looking at your picture, I can imagine lines running from the top of the vertical section to a stake maybe 10-15' away to help in case of high wind. Kinda like the below tent image...

Mike - great idea. The photo is just a model - not the one I'll likely get. But I never thought of the "extended" anchor lines until you mentioned them.

Lots of pieces to sort in the LBC acquisition puzzle!
