I too think that might be the case, tho idk how do these machines actually work, a couple of days ago I had my carpet cleaned and I experienced something similar to what you’ve described (actually that’s how I got here hahaha) but now is completely back to its usual state. I don’t think it’s something to be very worried about. Anyways, and changing the topic, I really liked how these guys at the Greeley carpet cleaning services took care of my carpet haha, I was really afraid that they would damage the stuff laying around, including my humidor, but everything came out alright.
