Carb Rebuilders

Folks,
I need to get my carbs rebuilt. I've heard Ed Currto in New York is good, anyone heard of "British Sportscar Center" in Cameron Park, CA? I've tinkered with the carbs as much as I am capable, but I just cant get rid of the black smoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif.
Thanks
Earl

It's actually Joe Curto <https://www.joecurto.com/>, and I've yet to hear a bad word about him!

But presence of black smoke isn't necessarily cause for a rebuild. It could be as simple as adjusting so you're not running so rich. Tell us a bit more, and maybe we can "brainstorm"! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Incurable black smoke can often be from worn throttle plate shafts.
Definatly a good idea to have a pro fix 'em up right.
If you can feel any substantial lateral movement in the shafts(wiggle them side to side from the way they rotate), they're worn
You'll save the cost of the rebuild in gas and spark plugs in the first year. Not to mention the improved drivability.

Not to be dismissive of Joe Curto's abilities but there is another guy whom rebuilds SU and ZS carbs. His name is Jeffrey Palya and he just completed work on my SU's, see attached photo. He answers all questions and does very good work at an excellent price.
