I'm a little slow today and was wondering what kind of oil I should add to the carbs ? I've heard anywhere from 10/30 to household oil to tranny fluid.

Any and all advice would be welcome !

Marvel mystery works pretty good.

George, the original dashpot oil is nothing more than 20W. Marvel, tranny fluid, or straight 20W are all things I've used successfully.

George, you can use most any weight oil in the carb dashpots.
The heavier the oil the more resistance to the air piston moving so when you hit the gas the mixture will get richer momentarily until the air piston rises allowing more air flow. This gives a similar result to the more conventional accelerator pump found on N.American cars.

I always use what I have in the engine (20/50), as I usually have a quart of it handy in the car.
