Hey Quentin,

The spring connects between the accelerator lever and the "stock" ZS air cleaner. I have mine connected between the acc lever and the lower hole on the air cleaner routed just under the fuel line.

Not exactly sure of the use for this spring. As best I can tell this serves little use because of the Zenith Stromberg already has a return spring on the throttle shaft of all ZS carbs. Matter a fact reading the Moss catalog it appears that all ZS from 77 on, actually have two springs on the shaft (one on each side).

It almost seems way too redundant at least on the latter ZS setups to have that third spring. Seems to me that this would be a problem if you opted for one of the aftermarket air cleaners.

Anybody know why we need this spring?

I know the reason for at least two springs; yes they are redundant. The good ol' USDOT requires a redundant throttle return system. In case one spring breaks (one in a million shot here) VIOLA! you have a backup. Brilliant.
