Has anyone installed the Carb heat shield they are selling on EBay? Do they relly help anything other then the guys wallet is selling them? If they solve some problem or increase performance or idle then I might condiser getting one. Thanks for responding.
 
They really help by shielding the carbs from the heat of the exhaust. The guy selling them is a vintage TR4 racer and TR enthusiast who is basically selling them from very little profit. He also has a nice TR3A street car. They are VERY!! nicely made and we have one on both the 3A and 4A. Joe also makes the brake adjuster, sump wrench and other TR goodies too.
 
You probably won't see much of a difference with/without the heatshield if you are still using the stock exhaust manifold. If you have a header, then it could help as they radiate much more heat than the stock manifold does.

I bought one of those heat shields. It installs easy, and looks good.

My car had some heat wrap on the underside of the carbs when I bought it. I left the heat wrap on there because I figured it was there for a reason. When I saw this heat shield I thought it would be a step up from the heat wrap.

Unfortunatley I have not driven the car since I installed the heat shield so I can't pass on any info on how much it helps.

I totally agree. Even though the heat seems real hot under the hood with a stock manifold, I have not had any vapor locks or the gas to boil out of the carbs, etc. I have not seen any symtoms of the effects of heat on the carbs, even in Hotlanta.
