When topping up the carb dashpots with oil, to what level should they be filled?
Obviously not to the top of the dash pot.

Hey Jeepster,
The proper procedure is to fill "below the top of the hollow piston rod", not "below the top of the chamber neck". Or another way to state it is fill to where the neck starts tapering up from the large diameter chamber. A lot of guys use automatic trans fluid but SU recommends 20 weight.

Mike

I recommend Marvel Mystery Oil. It also lubricates the upper end too and is close to the same consistancy as the SU oil and trans fluid.

If by chance you fill it up too much, no worries. It will find the level it wants to be by pushing the excess out.
