Don't be too sure about compensation for loss of the Vette: most municipalities have "sovereign immunity" that protects them when responding to an emergency call with siren and lights on.
Even if a police/EMT/Fire vehicle is totally at fault, they may not have to pay for at-fault damages to property of others under the above circumstances.
Moral to story: get the heck outta the way when you see emergency vehicles coming!!!
Fire truck wasn't responding, drove off the road above and fell onto the car parked in the driveway. Owner in no way at fault. Fire truck was trespassing. Municipality is responsible IMHO.
