I was recently looking through my image archives for a new Windows wallpaper when I found this. I believe someone here may have posted this some time ago and I grabbed it. I'm now using this as my wallpaper, it's a really cool shot IMO and a gorgeous car. Trouble is, I don't know what it is. Can someone help me out here so I don't feel like an idiot when someone here at work asks me what it is. I know it's not a D-type, but beyond that I'm stuck.

I had a spare few minutes and did some digging on the OSCA, turned up this website. They claim there were some road cars built, anyone ever seen one?

Cartype.com - OSCA

This is a cool website, I just killed about an hour reading up on the history of some car companies. They've got a ton of info there, some is kinda thin but they also have logos, which is cool. Click on the "type" tab at the top and then you should get a list of car manufacturers running down the left side of the screen. Lots of stuff in there I'd never heard of or knew, like I didn't know Audi was related to August Horch. I knew who Horch was, and that he built German luxury cars before the war, but I didn't know there was a relation to Auto Union and Audi.

See, the internet isn't all about wasting time as my wife claims, you can learn stuff there.

Denise McCluggage was famous for racing an OSCA 1100 in the 1950's, wearing a helmet with pink polka dots.

There are some good shots of that era in the book by Tom Burnside, "American Sports Car Racing in the 1950's", he took the pics and she wrote the captions.

I also think they look like smaller versions of the A6CS if that's the right model, a beautiful 6 cylinger 2 litre sports racer, as rare as the OSCA.

Tom Burnside is a very nice guy, by the way, I spoke to him in Florida and he autographed the book for me. I must get down to Sebring in the TR4a and watch the vintage race before the 12hr sometime!
Simon.

OSCA did build road cars, mostly in later years after the Maserati brothers sold the company (to Agusta, of MV Agusta motorcycles). I think the picture that William posted earlier was of an OSCA "1600", which was a beautiful little road car that looked sort of like a cross between a Fiat-Abarth Zagato and a Griffith.

If you really want to get into detail, take a look at https://www.classicscars.com/chassis/osca2.htm , which is a list of OSCAs by chassis number. (We once owned #757 in very sorry condition).
