Car show classes... I need help

Country flag
Offline
Of course, much of this depends on cars in your area, but could anyone suggest an improved break down for an all british car show. We need to have this many (or fewer classes). The total number of cars is about 300. BTW, do available car classes affect your decision to enter a show? Thanks for any and all constructive criticisms.

The Jag classes seem skewed to the later cars - do you want an XK120 and XKE in the same class? If so, why separate bugeyes from other Sprites and have 2 classes just for Healey 3000's etc?

Also, you may want an "Other British" class in case a Berkeley owner shows up. I'm not sure what TVR's and Sunbeams (and Lotuses and Morgans) have in common - maybe they become "other British" also?

And - what class would you put, say, a Triumph 1800 in?

Here's a link to a club document with a similar list that might be useful.

I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Re you question about entering shows - classes would make no difference to me.

Good start - not an enviable task since everyone will find a "better way".

Ummmm...

TR7's and 8's?

Oh, and "Modified" - would that be any car that has been modified? And to what extent? Depending on the definition, it could be a huge number of entries of all sorts.

oops, left out the TR7-8's

Yup... the Modified has always given us problems.

The Nashville show is this Saturday. (Looks like it's gonna be a gorgeous day!) So far, mine is the only Wedge entered. Probably get lumped with the Stags, TVR's, etc.

Truth be known, I don't go to win plaques or trophies. My enjoyment is comparing notes and checking out all the other cars. However, there are those who are very competitive, most of whom are pretty reasonable. I'm just glad it's not up to me to set classes or judge!

I agree with Mickey. I am not interested in any awards. However I do like to be lined up in a group of similar cars.

Here is a radical thought - I would be perfectly willing to go to a show and declare a non-compete status to make it easier to group cars for judging.

I agree Tom, we are just trying to balance things. There was a time in our car show where the midgets, minis, and spitfires were all in one class. I didn't car except it made it harder to socialize with people of like cars. And, when looking at cars in a show I like to be able to compare/contrast similar cars.

We always put a disclaimer that cars classes will be added or dropped as needed, but trophies go 40% deep based on anticipated registration.

Here is a revision. I should mention that our featured "Marque" (Using the term loosely) is Healey.

Is that why you've split the big Healeys up?

List looks good - I like the change in the "Modified" category. The only reason I brought that up was that at VTR, my car should have gone into "Modified" (Holley in place of original ZS's), but I wasn't aware of the class when I registered. Your definition of modified makes more sense, though.

Well, we actually started dividing the Healeys up because the class became so large in past years.

Trevor...I have been an advocate of a "WORKING CLASS". Most think I am joking but in all seriousness to categorize LBC Blue Collar limo's such as Panel Van's, Mini Vans and pickup's. Austins, Morris Minors and the MINI's, etc. in this type category have a style all their own........and in many cases very rare.
