Car on a pole.

Spotted this weekend, about a mile south of New Hampshire Motor Speedway (while we were racing at the NH Vintage...I'll post pictures/video of that event later).

This thing's been there for years....I saw it at least 4 years ago when we were up there.

Pretty sure it's a Vespa 400. There used to be a very similar Vespa on a pole about 20 minutes south of Lime Rock but that one's gone.
I imagine there's lots of other "small-car lollipops" around.

cool but sad at the same time - but I think it's an NSU Prinz - Fiat didn't have the rear side windows

Ah...you are correct!

I have forgotten what's-what with microcars.

I actually used to own an Autobianchi and I had a friend who had a Lloyd.
Hardly any of those little micro-cars left.

Considering the gas prices, they may come back! (I paid $9 USD per gallon for gas at the track this weekend....but it was 112 octane race fuel)

By the way, there were lots of Canadians at the event.
When we sat down at the track cafe for breakfast on Friday morning, three fellows sitting near us began chatting with us about British cars, vintage racing, etc.
Nice fellows; we had a nice conversation with them. We both just assumed they were from the US.
But when we got up to leave, they resumed their lively discussion of vintage cars....in French.
Later I realized there was a pretty good contingent from VARAC (the big Canadian vintage racing club).

two thing on my "to do" list.

1. race - VARAC

2. be fluent enough in a language to switch like that. Being a child of immigrant parents, I'm occasionally close and have had and envied the same experience in French (where folk can switch seamlessly)

was Joe Lightfoot there? (the guy we hoped had an A30/35)

BTW I may be PMing you to see if you have an extra 1500 throttle assembly - will post pics later today

Last I heard Joe was having a huge liquidation of his collection, wonder how that is coming...

And that is most definitely a Prinz in your first photo, the Vespa mini car is much rarer and very few were ever built if I remember correctly, certainly in comparison to the Prinz...

my A-arm and front springs came out of Joe's collection - sadly many of his cars are past anything but parts. I wish I was closer to help with that process.

Oh the humanity!

did I see a MGA coupe/stripped-beach-truck-rat-rod in those pictures Steve?
