I have a practice of replacing OEM with aftermarket horns in our new vehicles. The louder the better on our roads! Installed WOLO brand on her '19 Honda CRV and discovered today she managed to burn-out the high-tone of the pair in just two years. She really likes using the horn. Will replace with Hella brand - a high and low tone pair at 118 dbs. I think she'll like them, they're loud and red. Got twine air horns discreetly installed on the Healey 3000 - love that "freeep" European sound.
What to do have installed in your rides to catch attention of fellow motorist, e-bikers, wild / domestic animals etc.?

Mine are all stock too - when confronted with something going wrong on the road I am usually more focussed on maintaining control and evading than honking (had 2 close calls just in the past 24 hours - someone changing their mind on making a left turn and ending up coming straight at me on my side of the road, and then having the car directly in front of me bump the person in front on them on the freeway). By the time I think about "maybe I should have used the horn" the incident is over. About the only time I beep is when the person in front of me is texting at a red light and fails to notice its not red anymore....
 
About two years ago I installed electronic ignition in my 1963 Lambretta scooter. The original horn worked on DC from the battery. The electronic ignition puts out AC and there’s no more battery. Buying a AC scooter horn is outrageously priced and I wanted to keep the original horn. I ended up with a $4 small circuit board that converts AC to DC for the horn. Horn works great now.

I replace the stock Ford horns in the MH with Hella. Other than that, I'm not even sure where the horns are on the Subaru or Acura. The Healey's are stock.

I also am more focused on maintaining control and evading, while my wife is saying "Why didn't you honk at them?" My answer is that honking is not guaranteed to stop them so I assume they won't and evade them.

Memories! I loved the AC horn on my Vespa. Changes pitch with engine speed. Loved the sound!
 
I've got this set in the garage,along with a can of Freon.
Not sure what else you could power it with.Made by Hadley.

As the horn on my Lambretta was (and still is) DC pitch doesn't change. I love the original sound that this horn makes.... right out of the 60's
 
A couple of years ago I added a couple of FIAMM horns that came from Princess Auto (like Harbor Freight) They maybe be called freeway blasters and man are they loud for just ordinary looking horns - probably didn't cost me more than $20 for the pair and I am very happy. I have a set for the Vauxhall too.

Same here. SWMBO is always quick to ask that or tell me I should've honked. And with all the road rage these days, I sure don't want to start a war. Can't remember the last time I used a horn; not sure they even work!
 
Around here, the horn is used more for "punishment". A driver does something you don't like, you blow the horn. It's like yelling your favorite four letter words, but louder.

Agree with the "road rage" danger too.
 
Agreed. Appears to be a theme here: Wife uses horn for every occasion and always quick to demand I do the same because I rarely use them. When has honking become less peace of mind and more piece of mind - a comment on fellow motorist's driving:rolleyes:?
 
There's a switch in the MG to change from "**meep**" to "HEY!! IDIOT!!"

Rarely use either.
