Car dealership question

I happen to know the name of the dealership where my car was purchased. I have not been able to find out anything about the dealership though. Is anyone aware of any resources on British Leyland dealers in the USA back in the day.

My dream is to find a "dealer badge" for the back - a needle in a haystack I know but does anyone know if these were even used?

thanks again

One of the local ones here was "Koster Swope"

Several guys in the club have license plate frames from the era.

OK, the plot thickens a little. My window sticker which I have a slight remnant of says

San Luis British Cars
San Luis Obispo

the service Passport (maintenance folder)
says

Santa Maria Sport Cars
Santa Maria, CA

though the latter might just be where it was serviced

One possible source for info on defunct dealers may be your state's franchised automobile dealer association. Every state has one, and the national entity is the NADA.

For example, in VA you'd contact the VA Automobile Dealer's Association. They may be able to help with your query.

Good place to start, anyway.

Good luck, let us know.

Also look at old race programs for local dealers,

or if you are in the area the main library might have the local newspaper on microfilm from that time

Ha! Library! There is a novel idea. What gave you the idea that they'd have any information. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Seriously, that seems like an easy solution. I used to get distracted reading old ads in Newspapers when doing research during college.

you can probably get the microfilm from inter library loan....

cheap, I think you pay a couple bucks for postage

not sure if they would loan to Canada /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Beaulieu

I work for a busy Library system... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Here's what you do:

If you are a patron of a library, you either go through their website or go in to the library and find / request an ILL.
Mine has it on the website.

This might be easier if you go to the branch and get help.
You have to know what it is you would like to borrow, they will tell you if it can be done. If so, it's just a small fee usually to get whatever you need. This is only true for Interlibrary Loans, stuff they have in their system should be free as your taxes pay for this service.

If you are not already a patron of your local library, go sign up & get a card - nothing could be easier. Many of them let you sign up online.
