Folks,

A friend is seeking recommendations on the type of car cover to be used outdoors.
He has a Lotus Elan and may lose his garage.

I purchased a cover from California car covers. It was designed for outdoor use and was made from their Noah fabric. The cover breathes and does not trap moisture that can damage the finish. They had a pattern for my TVR and made a cover that fit properly. Very pleased with their product. Hope this helps.
 
Covercraft "technalon" may not last more than three years outside before it starts to disintegrage. Mine is three years old and the car is always covered in dust-like fabric fibers from the cover. I've learned to turn it inside out the minimize the mess (the dust REALLY sticks to the car after a light rain). I may look into one of the $300+ "Weather Shield" covers over at TRF.
 
Recently bought a Covercraft NOAH cover for my son's Miata. The NOAH material is highly rated for outdoor use against rain and snow. Fit and workmanship is great. Delivery took about 10 days as they manufacture them as ordered.

I agree on the "Noah" covers. I used them for a few years and they are very well-made. They're custom-fitted for your car, also, which is very important. If the cover doesn't fit well. wind can whip it against the paint and cause scratches.

And regardless of the brand you buy, they probably should be replaced every couple of years, depending on your weather/climate.

Noah is a good cover for the money, IMHO.
