Car as investment?

I never regarded my Sprite as a financial investment. An investment in time and passion, yes. When a car becomes an "investment" the passion disappears. You focus more on protecting the investment than enjoying it. No, my Sprite is nowhere near perfect, but it is a heck of a lot of fun to drive, and I plan on driving the wheels off it.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I'm getting a great sense of achievement rebuilding my Healey (and boring my wife to tears with how I'm doing it) and look forward to driving it again. And if it contributes to my pension fund when I'm too old to drive or enjoy it that's an added bonus, but not one I'm counting on.
