T-Series Canvas hood

My '53 TD has the original canvas hood. It doesn't *quite* reach the windscreen.

I remember stretching the vinyl hood on my former MGB, by leaving it in the sun for a few hours.

Will this work on my old canvas hood? Opening as far as possible, park in the summer sun, then try to pull it farther forward after a few hours?

Or will this destroy the hood?

Thanks.

Try wetting it with a hose first then leaving it in the sun. You have the 3-bow top. May be harder to stretch than the earlier two-bow top.

Thanks Paul. I'll give it a go. Once it's in place correctly, I sure hope those two lock bolts at the windscreen are enough to keep it from flying backwards at speed.

They are a bit flimsy but I never had any problems with my 3 TDs - at least as far as the top and side curtains were concerned. The TR6 has 2 levers but one consistently sneaks open.
