Can't Mount 13" Rostyle Tires to the Balancer

I just received a set of 175-70-13s for the midget, Took them to the local tire dealer to mount and balance and to everyone's surprise we could not figure out a way to mount the rostyle's to the balancing machine. The cone was to large and the four pin adapter for the bolt holes was to large also.

Where do you guys take your 13" rostyle tires to get balanced?

Thanks,
Bruce

I go to the local family owned shop that still has some of the older machines and it isn't a problem. Some of the larger national stores don't have the right equipment for the older / odd wheels.

I was able to get mine done at the local Canadian Tire - though I did have to touch up the paint a tad. On the other hand, if you really want to make folk crazy - which I do - get the weights on the inside. Took at least an hour to get them right but I didn't want outside weights

You think rostyle are a problem, try to find someone that can balance wire wheels!! Tempted to get a bubble balancer from JC Whitney. Fortunatly I found a shop with a bubble balancer covered with dust in a back room last time I needed wires balanced. They came out perfect.

Technically the wheels are not centered on the center hole. They are centered on the lugs, so even if they mount it on the cone, it will not be the best balance job.

Ask them if they can balance them on the car. Then the weight rotors and hub will be balanced as well. But then they'll need rebalancing if you rotate the tires.

Or, find another tire shop that has the proper equipment to balance them off the car.

These guys are the only ones I'll let adjust and or balance my wire wheels. Not only are they nice people, their pro's in the business.

Thanks Paul, I am looking for the name of a place that can do the work. It's just a bit to far.

Anyone have a suggestion for a place in Austin, Texas to balance Rostyle's?

Yep - TopLine Tire in Huntsville can balance wires and 13"-ers...& they put weights on the rear if you ask - & they can balance on the car....they do all mine & I've never had a problem......& they did my '63 MG1100 12" early steel wheels.

Goodyear works down here and so does the AFB shop.

I bought my own balancer and do my own. Harbor freight tools sometimes has a balancer for 50 bucks or so. The old bubble balancers worked well, but few people at tire stores know how to use one.
