Can't get the truck to open

The key wouldn't manually unlock it.

Year and model is helpful. There are booster packs you can buy to plug into the cigar lighter circuit.

Boy, I'm confused now...is a pickup truck you're trying to open or a Jaguar's "trunk"?

:lol:sorry can't help myself...Tony understands!

Depending on the model and year, sometimes a good, hard, upwards jerk will cause the trunk to open. You would then have to rebolt the hasp.

Or, there is a battery charger out there that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Again, depending on your car, the ignition may have to be set to the accessory position.

I would have thought there would be an emergency release cable somewhere. I have a friend who is a Jag mechanic and I'll ask him.

XK8:

Open the bonnet (hood) on passenger side there is a positive terminal. Connect jumper battery positive to this battery terminal and ground to engine block.
The trunk will open with black key or push button.

XJ-12:

Under the hood, you will see a power point to hook a charger or jumper battery to, the terminal to boost the car, is towards the top of the bonnet (hood), beside the engine, on the mid right side, mounted near the windshield (that means, if its in north america, im saying its closer to the passengers side than drivers side. This will light the interior up enough for the trunk release/lock motor to open up.
One report says there is a little key slot on the trunk lid, use the ignition key and twist a bit hard, and trunk will open.

Philistine!!! :jester:

...but I totally agree.

And will further add: NO automatic transmissions, no "air conditioning"!! :smirk:

Well, I'm waiting for Phyllis to come back & provide more information.

Series-III E-Types have a nice T-handle with a lockset in the starboard rear panel with a CABLE running to the latch.
