I'm trying to give the TR8 a tune up and I can't locate a replacement distributor cap. The engine was rebuilt using a 4.0 block, but I haven't received the detailed rebuild records yet to nail everything down.

The current distributor looks like the one I put in the picture attachment except is a V8. It definitely requires the screws since the distributor body doesn't have hooks or clamps to hold the cap onto the body.

Any recommendation on suppliers - I'm in SoCal.

In situations such as this, I often find a GOOD local NAPA or independent parts store to be invaluable. Take the cap in (maybe the distributor, too) and see if they can match it up. More often than not, good counter people seem to actually ENJOY the challenge!

Pix arent too clear...

possibly a Lucas dist.

Cap LU-155 rotor LU-18
these are Filko #'s...

interchange to ....54402212, DDB 176 (Std Mtr # LU433)
""" "" rotor....54401928, DRB 134 ( "" " LU325)

pick up and reluctor n/a in the aftermarket.

Wasn't the first pic from a 4 cylinder engine? TD, was this a test to see who was actually paying attention to you?

Your baby is very cute and far more important than dist cap.

Hi Paul - you passed the test! LOL.

Actually I attached the first picture of the 4 cylinder to show the screwed based mounting.

I haven't seen that type of mounting on any of the LBC cars before and haven't been able to find it in Moss, Vicky Brit, or TRF catalogs.

I really did work to find it first before I asked for help - and thanks for everyone humoring me on being a proud Dad!

I know I don't have one on hand! At a glance, I'd say the last dizzy picture actually looked like an autolite unit, but I have seen some rare Lucas dizzys with a two-screw cap. The best person to cpntact about this one is Peter Caldwell at World Wide Auto Parts - 800-362-1025. If anyone has that cap sitting on a shelf, its him!!!
