Looks like a Renault R5 to me. I think they were known as "Le Car" in North America.

Wow! And no towtruck!
I saw a Renault Alliance that seemed to be in
original condition a few days ago.

I saw one a week ago - wierd

The car in my photo is a private import from Europe, so is the R5 without having the Le Car markings and such, see... a potential trick question...

Having lived in France for about 7 years while they were still current, I've seen many, many of them.

A red R5 Turbo chases Sean Connery in the Bond film Never Say Never Again, and the taxi 007 steals and destroys in A View To A Kill is a Renault 11, which is closely related to the Alliance. Just thought you'd like to know...

My parents had a 78 Renault LeCar.. It really wasn't that bad. I loved the big sliding canvas top it had. and it wasn't their first Renault. It came a few years after a very well used R-10
My wife had an Appliance, I mean, Alliance while she was in school. that thing took a lot of abuse and kept on going, Till she tried to turn it into an early Morgan in a culvert. FYI Renaults don't drive as well as Morgans with only 3 wheels
