I finally got my TR4A back together. Eight months of waiting and finding the time, ordering parts. What a great sound when it started back up.

I did the 30 minute 2500 rpm routine. Can I drive for about 1000 miles on that oil with ZDDP additive, and the camshaft paste still in the engine and sump, or must I immediately dump it all out and change the oil?

I read conflicting bits of advice on that topic. thx

I think you are safe for a couple of hundred miles or so. When I rebuilt the Rover I went 200-300 then changed again at 500 and last at 1000. Then started following the manual.
I think you will find a lot of differing opinions on this, but it is also important to let things bed in, so I would not use any additives in the beginning other than the ZDDP.

You're probably going to have some break-in "debris" in the filter and oil,,that you may want to get out of circulation fairly soon.
