Rebuilding my 1296cc Spitfire engine. I bought a Kent cam from Victoria British. I followed the catalog instructions- bought the cam for the 67to 72 engine and associated cam bearings. The machine shop installed the crankshaft, pistons, camshaft and bearings. I added the front engine plate and was going to install the keeper plate, the VB catalog calls it a cam lock plate. The one I have doesn't seems to fit. The box does not include a replacement. Any one else have this problem?

BTW I ordered enough stuff for the rebuild they sent me a thank-you note.

Is the plate too thick to fit the cam or is there a different fit issue?

Hi all,
This is what I get for dealing with amateurs, me that is; silly me. I pulled the cam forward a bit, to the front of the engine and everything fit. Such a catastrophiser I am. A friend brought his degree wheel and dial indicators and the cam is installed along with the distributor. What a morning.

T.T.

I'm glad it all went together. Hopefully the rest of the engine will go together smoothly and be running again soon!
