Finally got my new cam installed in the block. Woof. I ain't as young as I once was!
Quit for the night.
I marked my timing chain and upper and lower sprockets with a dab of bright fingernail polish, oriented the new cam, and bolted it right up. I dialed in TDC (#1 firing stroke), and the new cam ought to be in the ball park. Not perfect but close. Since I do have an adjustable cam sprocket, I may only have to make minor if any adjustments. I hope. Lathered her up real good with some Clevite cam lube, will apply more when I drop in the lifters. Guess I will static time her to make certain she fires quickly when that time comes, down the road.
Lifting the engine is a PITA, skinned several knuckles setting it back. Kinda like the "no grill" look.
Time to rest.
