I have the motor out of my car doing clean up,rewire, and 5 sp converison. will working around the motor it seem that tha cam chain has a lot of play in it.This is on a 1098. I see that the 1275 uses a double chain. Would I be better to use this to replace the single that is on my motor.

Taz, it's a worthwhile change, but you have to countersink the two holes in the front plate behind the gear, and use flathead Allen screws for clearance. No big deal to do.
Why not go all out, and use the adjustable cam gear. That way you can dial the cam in perfectly. Maybe not required on a street engine, but the marks on the gears have been known to be off significantly.

I have a 1275 thats sitting on an engine stand right now. Probley next summer I will be rebuilding it . On that motor I will go all out and build a very healthy street motor.
On this 1098 I just want it to be dependable for now..

Will I need to use the 1275 cam gearcover .

Thanks Carl

Carl, the existing timing cover will work just fine. The only mod required is countersinking the front plate for the two screws.
