Registered the '67 MGB GT here in Virginia,on "Antique" plates -
$50 Lifetime,+ $10 Title fee,& no annual inspection.

My California renewel notice came today -
$120 for ONE year.

And I bought gas (reg) for $199.9/gallon.

Interesting. In Oregon we make a distinction between "antique" and regular registrations. "Antique" ones can be forever (and are also inexpensive)... but, technically, it's for vehicle driven to/from shows (or similar). I chose to license my BOINK plates in a regular way, and that costs a lot more.

Tell us again how wonderful it is, when you're up to your whatsis in snow and I'm still running around with no top & no heater.

BTW, no annual inspection here either. But living costs are definitely higher, because lots more people want to live here ...

Mostly folks moving in from Virginia.

Spent years in both places, currently in VA. Gotta say, I would still rather be in CA. Older cars dont require inspection in CA anyways.

Anything over twenty five years old in OK costs $27 to tag. I can't imagine paying $120 a year to tag anything, how does the state justify such exorbitant fees?

Deficits
But that's opening a can of worms I don't think needs to be

I agree Paul I prefer the old tags too, but they couldn't justify the five dollar fee they tagged on this year if they didn't issue new tags.

Lived in Virginia for a few years, found it certainly fair with tag and title transfer fees.

Here in SD we now have the option to run only the rear plate .So for the first time in 12 years we are running legal with only the rear plate .
all these years I just plead ignorance and kept the front plate under the seat.

It's for vehicles that travel less than 6,000 miles a year and used recreationally. Owners will have to submit an odometer reading when they get the plate. You also have to fill out a special application.

The one-plate fee is $25 plus registration fees.
I’m good with these I simply refuse to hang a plate on the front of the bugeye

Bugeye, That would be easy for me since most of my older cars don't have a working odometer.
