Not exactly sure if this should go in the racing forum, as it's a vintage car rally...but anyway...

Anyone read about this in Moss's "British Motoring" magazine? Sounds like a real blast and it happens to be right in my neighborhood. It's approximately 800 miles of northern California backroads raced upon by pre-1975 classics. It spans three days, and you don't have to have some ultra-rare concours quality car to run it. You can show up in say...a Spridget that looks kinda like mine...a lot ugly, and nobody will think twice about it. It only costs around $300 and pretty much includes everything but gas. The 2006 one runs on Labor Day weekend, and nobody knows the course until that morning.

Anyone else ever done a vintage car rally? I know I can't race my car in SCCA or anything like that (pretty much because of a lack of funds and no racing license) so I'm thinking some of these rallies might be a fun thing to do. Of course, I'm working on getting my Wife to agree to be my navigator. That will be a feat in and of itself because she hardly trusts the car to make it from Salinas to Monterey (approx 20 miles) after it broke down once on our way back from San Jose. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Anyway...I think I'm going to sign-on to do this thing. If anyone else is interested, here's the website:

I just might do it this year - it's usually on the same weekend as tha Palo Alto British Car Meet.
I think the Melee would be a lot more fun.
Besides, where else could I find people who think a bright Yellow Cortina MKIII's cool?

Right on...Cortinas are sweet! I remember working on one at this shop I used to help out in. It was a complete basket case...but cool.

At least your car is one color...I have a Sprite that is generally off-white in color, with red, blue, and black paint jobs peeking through in various locations. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It'd be fun if we could get a small group of LBC's together to make the run.
