California Cruzin Question

We are taking a vacation that will include a part of California. I've been laying out each days route using Garmin BaseCamp.

When i tried to go from Jamestown, CA to S. Lake Tahoe, CA it routed me:
CA 49 to CA 88 to CA 89 into S. Lake Tahoe.

I was wondering if anyone would recommend either of these two alternatives:

1. CA 108 to US 395 to CA 89 into S. Lake Tahoe.

2. CA 49 to CA 4 to CA 89 to S. Lake Tahoe.

We will be in a 2010 Honda Civic and two-lane twisties don't bother us, logging trails do. :fat:

Thanks for any help.

Rich (Tahoe healey) would be a good person to ask since he lives around there. Not sure he comes to The Pub much.

All that is twisty two lane in the Sierra Nevada. Sonora Pass (108) isn't bad, to 395, good, off on 89, not bad.
Looking for a little more straight, I think I'd do 49 north to Placerville, US 50 east from there.
Also, north on 49 to Jackson, east on 88 (a little more direct). Been a whole loot of years since I did those, roads have to be better now than then.
Be aware, California bicyclists love to ride those roads. And they somehow think they own a 50 MPH road in full when their top speed uphill is six.

Thanks for the heads-up on the bicyclists on the roads. Had a recommendation in the Healey list for 88/89. Probably will wait till we get there to make the final decision.

This place on Tahoe https://thunderbirdtahoe.org has a really cool art deco boat with twin Allison engines that you can take out for mere $5000 donation. George Whittell built the lodge on his 20 miles of shoreline. We missed the tour but it's on the list for next time.

Thanks for the replys and suggestions. Between here and the Healey List I think i've got it figured out.

Thunderbird tours look interesting, but i think we will bypass the art deco boat part:fat::fat:

It has been fun using the map and BaseCamp to lay out the routes and side trips.
