Cable, phone, internet.......who do you use? Why?

I am trying to figure out who offers the best bang for the buck. Looking to change from current provider's 3-in-1 package....lots of $$$$

Peter - good luck in the quest. The packages and prices are all over the place, changing nearly every day, and often *very* dependent on location.

I've got Charter Cable Internet for $55/mo. It's 5meg down; 768k up.
DishTV for $29/mo
ATT phone for $21/mo.

I'm afraid I'm stuck with Charter for internet; there's no DSL available, and satellite internet is way too expensive.

Not one single package would give me the same any cheaper; they all want to sell me "more" than I'd ever use, for a higher price than I'm paying now.

I use Comcast for all three. I pay about $220 a month. No premium channels, but 2 HD DVRs and 1 HD receiver. Primary reason is that my house LIVES on the internet, and the only DSL available is 1.5mb. Also, with the equipment needs (or wants) I have, startup costs with DirectTV are pretty high. I figured it out aa couple years ago, and with what the startup charges would be, it would have taken me about 5 years to recoup my money based on the lower monthly charges.

They are supposed to be getting FIOS in our area sometime in the future with a base of 5mb, which is comparable to my cable now, and may consider a switch then. I won't go to DISH, as let's just say I was a loyal DISH subscriber for 9+ years, and when I wanted to upgrade to HD, they wanted me to pay $750 for a single HDDVR that a new customer could have gotten for $250 (that was a few years ago).

I use Comcast for internet (the only real high-speed choice where I live). but I have "limited" TV channels. For television I have DishNetwork 250 Channels package with their top of the line DVR

Comcast internet and basic cable here (analog cable even, no less). Not many choices in the small town where I live. About $100 for the 2 services. We're cell phones only, so no landline service.

We've ben reasonably happy with the services, which is good because there really isn't an alternative here.

Comcast internet & TV w/premium channels + DVR and Vonage phone...$170/mo.! Couldn't live with anything slower than the speed Comcast internet provides!

I have Time Warner Cable, and pay $150 a month for premium cable, (gotta have my Fox Soccer, History Channel, Travel Channel, Food Network, etc....)internet (Roadrunner, very good, very FAST) and phone service. No complaints, never been an issue when I have needed to contact tech support or customer service.

I'm happy with it.

I have AT&T for the LAN line and our cell service.

DirecTV for satellite.

I have no cable service available out here in the "sticks"

My ISP is a local wireless.

I recently switched to Mediacom's bundled package - internet, TV, telephone & TIBO.....$94 a month plus taxes....& I have HBO, CINIMAX, & STARZ/Encore premium channels rolled into the package! Oh, 2 of their boxes are included along with a faster internet service.

I saved $139 a month by bundling & kept my free long distance telephone service.

Plus, we use Verizon's family cell phone plan.

nutmeg, what no optimum online up in the sticks?, here in stamford ive got optimum online for everything, had no say in the deal, my wifes company pays for everything opt. offers, dont use but about 30-35% of programs that are available, im not much of a sports nut so its mostly wasted on my viewing preferences, dont even no what it cost, like they say "dont ask, dont tell". :eeek:

Yeah, I think so too. That's why I looked at the Qwest/DirectTV bundle deal. It would be (at least the last time I checked) about $50 a month cheaper (not counting the promos), but getting 2 HD DVRs and an HD receiver would have been around $600 or so. And my internet would have only been 1.5mb instead of the 5-6 mb I get off the cable.

Side note...I discovered I can get local HD channels without a box at all. Bought a small LCD and set it up with the cable directly into it and thought all I'd get is the analog channels, but found all the local digital and HD channels on it.

Anything going thru that pie is Digy and HI- def

We currently have 6 TV in our home, 2 are on Comcast Digital boxes with the others on plain cable. $65 a month. I just today convinced my wife(who hates change) to switch to Directv. We will get 2 HD receivers, 1 of those with DVR, and 4 regular digital boxes with 250 channels (about 200 more than plain cable) and 30 or more HD channels for about $30 more. Never could get Comcast ON DEMAND working right. Today was the last straw. I left work early with a very sore back and wanted to watch some movies. NO ON DEMAND AGAIN!!! I just hope the little woman is happy with it. Oh, we also have AT&T DSL and cellphone. Love the cellphone service, DSL OK.
