I might take a stab at it. Been pretty cold here, but might brave it.

Well, my memory isn't what it used to be, but I vaguely remember that unusual light in the night sky ...

 
Usually same here - celestial event, celestial cover.

But not last night! No clouds at all. Just a very very bright moon.

No luck here (with binoculars)... or not sure I saw it.
