BW66 Tranny Weight for 4.2?

Hello Group,

Can anyone tell me the shipping weight of a Borg-Warner T(ransmission)66 from 1986 XJ6? Or share your shipping experience? Whom is the best carrier to use and the most cost effective? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Re: BW66 Tranny Weight for 4.2?

Bryan, The last time I shipped a series 3 transmission, I had to use a trucking line due to its weight being over 75 pounds. One convenient way is to use a plastic or tin garbage can with stuffing around the transmission. Then tape up all seams. Shippers do not like oil dripping packages. Building a crate can be EXPENSIVE. Some shippers will accept the transmission banded to a pallet; ask your local carriers.

John,

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like the way I'll go with it. Much appreciated.
