Nope - TeeYah's not for sale.

Here on BCF there are gazillions of posts about cars on ebay "auctions", but there isn't much discussion about cars for sale that *aren't* on ebay, despite the number of "classic cars for sale" websites.

Currently on ebay there are:

54 Triumphs
77 MGs
19 Austin Healeys
629 (!) Jaguars
40 Lotus
196 Minis
621 Rovers
5 Sunbeams
6 Sprites
1 "Queen Juliana's 1952 Austin Sheerline Princess, body by Pennock"

Here on BCF, there are 174 cars for sale listed in Classifieds, altho' I can't easily tell how many may have already been sold without paging through all 15 pages. Couldn't find anything that belonged to Queen Juliana, either.

I realize some of the cars on ebay are still being made, but is ebay now THE place to buy/sell a LBC?

Re: buying/selling options

EBay represents a geographically huge marketplace, literally worldwide. No other venue can provide that kind of exposure.

Also, eBay advertising fees remain relatively cheap. Last time I checked, it cost less to advertise a full, photo ad on eBay than in the largest newspaper in my area, the Washington Post. That's a good deal.

There are other venues, including the BCF: Hemmings; Collector Car Trader, etc. But, there's nothing that comes close to the exposure provided by eBay Motors.

I've had stellar success buying and selling cars and parts on eBay. Nary a negative experience with more than $40,000 in sales (not counting purchases). Probably lucky in that regard, but still, good experiences.

Personally, I don't like selling or buying on eBay. But, it's hard to ignore, IHMO.

Re: buying/selling options

Have to agree. Have purchased 4 different vehicles, a myriad of parts, have sold a few things, by and large, not many negative experiences.

Re: buying/selling options

I've been lucky myself to have had no bad experiences with ebay buy/sell, altho' there was one *real* character who had the persistence and intelligence of a specially trained Barbary ape.

So if you guys are in a buying or selling mood, do you start with ebay and stay there? Are there other online and offline places BCF folks actually use for buying and selling? (not just for drooling over ...)

Thanks.
Tom
