Whew! We've been on the go all weekend. I'm glad I'm on vacation now so I can recover a bit. But of course, I have all but filled up my time off with stuff I've been meaning to do.
SO starting on Staurday, we went to the last class my daughter had for kids who are going to participate in the Elmira street painting festival. For a few weeks we've gone down to a parking lot, and she's been able to practice using chalk on pavement. (A bit of a step up from what we all used to do on the sidewalk). Here's one of her practice pieces.

Then she went to a pool party, and we went to the EAAs show at the airport to see the tri-motor. We got there just as the Model A club was getting it's pictures done with the plane.

Then on sunday we went to Ithaca to see the new boat my parents got (New to them, it's a mid 80s model 28.5' Hunter sailboat) and we motored up the inlet, not venturing too far as the skies were a bit threatening. During our little tour, we met this happy group in a pristine Kris Kraft enjoying the day also

I remember seeing photos of that trimotor all smashed up when I was at the airshow some years ago. That plane was severely damaged by a storm and painstakingly restored to what it is today.
Here's the story:
While at the 1973 EAA Fly-In, a severe thunderstorm ripped the plane from its tie-downs, lifted it 50 feet into the air and smashed it to the ground on its back. EAA subsequently purchased the wreckage for its Aviation Foundation.After an arduous, twelve-year restoration process by EAA staff, volunteers and with assistance from Ford Tri-Motor operators nationwide, the old Tri-Motor once again took to the air. Its official debut was at the 1985 EAA convention in Oshkosh. It was displayed in the AirVenture Museum until 1991 when it returned to its former role of delighting passengers. Ford Tri-Motor NC8407 is the flagship of EAA’s Pioneer Airport.

I enjoy sailboats, know nothing about planes other than wish I had might have gone that direction, but....I hear that Chris in my dreams.

I actually thought you were going to post photos of The Glen Six Hours.

A bunch of my friends were up there for that. It was pretty wet I'm told (here's a couple of shots my friend Bill took at the event).

Yup. pretty wet. Yesterday wasn't bad, but today was a soaker.

Never saw rain like that in Seattle.
It was just a 1/10th of an inch a day

Finished the day at almost 8"
Makes about 16" in 3 days with a little more expected today
And still people's sprinklers are running
 
I can't figure that, but a wood boat idling at the dock is as going as going for a ride, almost. No sweeter sound!!!
