Rolled the MG into the garage today and got to work stripping off parts so I can pull the engine. Removed carbs, alternator, assorted hoses, radiator and shroud, and a few other bits.

Hope to get a few more things pulled tomorrow, then I should be ready to rent a lift and a few friends, and get the engine and tranny out.
 
Drew! That looks like a car worth rebuilding from the photos! What's FUBAR about it?!?!

Nothing wrong with the car, I just bought it for the engine and transmission (and brakes, rear end, etc). It was cheap and local. Had I found this before the Tunebug, I might had just gone from there, but I didn't, and prefer the Bugeye. The Midget really needs to be painted (the yellow is pretty ugly, think school bus yellow), though the body is in good shape in general. Someone will eventually take the tub and make a full car out of it, I'm sure.

Chris, it's a long way to MA from here (I know, I drove the reverse when I moved here from RI). Would cost more in gas than the car is worth, probably. Interesting offer, none the less...
 
I don't find fault with your plan to 1275 Tunebug. It just surprised me to see the apparent unsullied (comparatively) condition of the "donor"! Whether MkI or MkII, Spridgets are FUN cars and getting more rare by the day. You could fund some of your project selling that tub.
 
Did some damage to that today Drew, good job, that momentum will stay for a while yet. Engine lift = fun.
 
The guy who sold it had it for a while. He's a Triumph guy (races a Spitfire in vintage racing) and has been puttering with it for a few years. That's probably why I got a good deal--he wasn't going to do anything with it, so out it went. I'm hoping to get a few dollars for the tub and the extra parts (once I have them in hand). Don't expect lots, but every bit helps.

Sunday should bring more disassembly. I'm hoping to get it completely ready for pulling the engine, so I can get to that in the next couple of weeks. Sure is fun doing the take-apart-stuff. Feels like progress, and you really don't need to know what you are doing! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
The disasembly is where you learn where it all goes. Pay attention to the dumb stuff.
