This Sunday is Burns Night!

I expect all our members of Scottish nationality or descent to wear the tartan. Photos will be mandatory, I insist! Yes, even Baz!

I shall dig the haggis out of the freezer and get the neeps and tatties going. I'll certainly raise a glass of the single malt to you all.
 
Burns has always been one of my favorite poets, I never tire of reading his words.

And being of the Scottish ilk, I have two wool Tartan ties in my family clan's pattern (clan Keith, from Aberdeen area). It's blue-ish color with a green background. I also inherited my uncle's kilt, but it's a wee bit to big for me to wear. Might just get it altered someday . . .

The Keith clan plaid colors come in two versions: one is very dark and I'm told it's the color of the fabric after the warrior's body has been in the grave for awhile. The other clan color is bright and keen, a nice, light royal blue pattern over a verdant, bright green background. Very pretty.

I like the dark colored one, makes me feel like a warrior (especially after a couple of cask-strength drams of whiskey) :crazyeyes: I'll wear my Keith plaid (the dark) tie to a friend's poker game on Saturday night to commemorate Burns' birthday.

There's also a big Burns gathering over at UVA, lots of Burns fans there. It's quite an event, with readings, memorials and apparently a fair amount of whiskey drinking.

RIP, Robert. Died young, but left behind much beauty!
 
Has it been a year already. Wow times flys when your old.
 
My uncle Walter, from the Black Country in England, was drafted in WW2 and served with the Black Watch! He developed a strong Scottish accent with he kept until his dying day. Quite a character, I was too young to appreciate his service back then, and what a treasure trove of stories was lost.....
 
Yikes, that's WHISKY, not whiskey.
 
Here on Oahu we're making a big deal out of Rabbie's 250th.. But we're conducting it on Saturday evening at the convention center. Got over a couple hundred coming to the dinner(feast and performance actually).. We're saving Sunday morning for the 10 am worldwide toast to Burns. The Guinness world record people can fill you in.

Oh, we are using the John Murchison haggis recipe that I posted in this forum... Looking forward to it. Hope I can stil fit in my Prince Charlie...
