Burning Wires...Yikes...Help Please

Hi People...I am having trouble with my TR3b windshield wipers. They never worked and I thought that I finally found the problem...the ground wire was not connected at the back of the control panel..anyway I hooked it up and pulled the switch the motor came to life with half a rotation and blew the fuse. So silly me..I wrap the fuse with tinfoil and the Green And Black wire at the wiper motor starts to smoke and melt. Anyone got any Ideas as to what would cause such a short? This is a new wiring harness by the way..Thanks Folks

The wipers only rotating half a turn and blowing a fuse may indicate the motor tied up and blew the fuse. When you added the foil, the juice had to go somewhere if the motor would not turn.

Sounds like you have a short in the motor..

Wires are swapped at the motor. It runs until the park switch closes, which shorts one terminal to ground. (Sorry, I've forgotten which terminal is which offhand). If the terminal that the park switch shorts to ground happens to be connected to the supply line instead of the (ground-side) switch, you get a short to ground.

motor jammed up with old congealed grease?
(or bits of gears)
And/or the transmission lines and transmissions.

I see Tr-3 wiper motors on Ebay periodicaly, BUT be careful, I had to buy three to get enough parts to make a good one.

You may want to put out a plea on the forum, it is possible some of the members have spares and can/will help you out.
As for me, I have SOME parts but nothing complete that will run.
I have an armature and filed coil if you need one or both.
I have gear sets {Wiper motor only}.
Well basically what I don`t have are brush holders and related parts {spring, spring retainers, and brushes}
The brushes themselfs can be had through the big three.
These W.W. motors are fairly easy to refurbish IF you can acquire the parts.
