Hello Everyone -

Got a question re: my generator. It is making a shrilling sound and there is a light buring smell coming from it as well.

It has been lubricated and there is the appropriate amount of tension on the belt (1cm). There is also a ticking sound coming from the fan area as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Barry

Get the belt off and spin it by hand. Check for binding or fan hitting the housing. If OK try to wiggle the pully to check for a badly worn berring
(most suspect).

Bearing worn or failed. Sound and smell is prolly armature dragging on the field coils.
Rebuild it, have it rebuilt, or replace it.
