Off Topic Buried...Show me your TR3 work! Please

I keep seeing top down LBC cars out motoring around. I really am bumming at this point because my project is buried under a pile of stuff in the garage. The basement build out is close to inspection....and then wallboard etc. I think we are probably 5 weeks out from being done. The storage space left is at a minimum. So I am left trying to par down all the junk until I can recoup some cash and get the garage addition done.
So where are you guys with your projects.....M Pied? Luke44? CJD? I am anxious to see someone getting stuff done.
I need someone close by to swing by and take me out for a spinnnn......wishful thinking. If you got a car that needs waxing, let me know. I will pick up but it may take most of the day....wink, wink.

New Ratco frame with a petty good body shell and good, but needing work, interior.
Need time more than anything else. Pics coming as soon as i make some progress.

Need time. Old job of 33 is gone -- starting new one. Job loss meant re-prioritizing household chores above 'fun' stuf like Triumph
 
Hey JP. The TR3 is getting a spin every few days driving the kids to and from activities. I even started taking the twins out to practice driving it in prep for getting their licenses next year.

Lost my favorite ballcap while driving in 40 mph gusty winds last week. By the time I circled back to pick it up (one of the great things about the TR3 is you can pick stuff off the road while driving past without even leaning over!), some Bozo had already run over it and broke the adjuster. Bummer.

As for the TR2...I know we talked about cleaning nuts and bolts. I never pulled the trigger on a sonic cleaner, so I have been spending untold hours at the blaster cleaning every bolt individually. Oh the humanity! The worst part is I end up cleaning about 1/3 extra, just to find they are too far gone to use. I am so far from done that I am boxing every assembly as it is finished and stacking it in storage. Lord help the family if I die before this thing is finished...at least it will be boxed for sale on Ebay?!?

Hope you get organized with the new job. Have you started working there yet?
 
Don't get discouraged about the restoration it will get done, get the basement done then finish the car. I figured my car would be done last year but no, a cracked block set me back. Just last week I got the new engine started. Now I want to have the car done by this fall, but who knows what may come up. Here are few pictures I just took this morning. Good luck with the car and the basement.

Keith I am glad you are in AZ because that will be one nice car...at least we won't be in competition at shows......IT is working.....keep them rolling in.....
 
Grandfather put new seat covers from Moss in his TR-3 small mouth. We just need to change the oil and it will be good to go for this year. He's also very persistent on getting the wipers to work even though they'd never get used. Need to make a image account somewhere and post a few pictures of it on here.
 
You should be able to post images right from your computer. I do. You don't need Flickr or Photobucket.
 
Just for the sake of discussion, I blasted those bolts and then clear coated them and they still look like rusty crap today.
 
Well I moved the new project into the basement from outside by the barn where there is plenty of stuff to trip over. I hope that helps because in the final analyses it is all therapy for a theological position on existence. I suggest rebuilding a carburetor on the kitchen table.

Which Bolts are we talking about?

All of them! It's by far the most time spent restoring these cars. New bolts have different markings on the head from the original, so that's why I take the time. I know it's anul, but I'm afraid it's a carry over from my Vette restoration days, when I would spend weeks looking for a single "correct" bolt. I take every single bolt and nut, run them through a tap or die to true the threads, and then blast them spotless. I usually paint them afterwards, but I chose not to for the TR2 this time around.

Russ thank you, I thought about Mark's new fan but decided against it $$$$. I have a Tropical fan on the car and want to see how well it works.
 
Here is a 56 TR3 (tan top) I finished in April. One of our BCF's is the proud owner now. Not as nice as Keiths but I am proud of it. Next to it is Dads old 57. Will be keeping that one to the last car.

I also like to use the original bolts if they are usable. It they are greasy dirty then I use a cleaner. If they are rusty I have been using a rust cleaner solution and then if they need more cleaning (they most often do) I put them to the wire wheel on the grinder. I have found that if you do not paint them they need to be coated with something. So I have been soaking them in oil and then draining the oil off.
