Bump Stop Installation question

I had the same problem a while back. The opening on the set I got was just too small to have any chance of fitting back on that metal mushroom. I was convinced I got the wrong part. I was told that it can easily be hammered on with the axle out of the car, but I wasn't going to do that for a bump rubber. I ended up flipping it around. It works but is not quite as tight as I would like. Maybe others have a better idea.
 
I thinned the rubber a bit, then lubed it up with glycerin and muscled it on. Seems tight and has been on for many years and countless miles.
 
I tried that first Kim, but after a few failed attempts and some first degree burns, I got out my pocket knife and taught that little rubber knob who was in charge. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
