Finally got back home in country. Sunday, here in Austin, wasn't too bad a day, temp/wind wise.

I went out to my Sprite, noticed an oil puddle under it. I checked the oil, water, air, etc, etc, etc...

Oil was a little low (barely under the low mark).

Added a little to get it between the lines...

Fired her up... ok... backed her out... ok... until I noticed a dark puddle on the drive way...

darn... pulled her back in...

Saw drops on the bottom of the oil pan...

Guess I need to go figure out what seal is leaking...

An easy check--your oil pressure gauge line. BTDT, dumped a quart of oil on the garage floor before I could say "WTF?" First week I had my car and I'm lucky I didn't blow the engine before I even drove it.

Take heart, your car letting you down is one thing, people are another. Consider yourself lucky.

Just closing on this subject with everyone....

Thanks for all the ideas...and thanks Jack for reminding me to go out and remove the fan belt to see if the noise went away... It did and it didn't help....

What it did do was to help me realize that the two bolts that hold the rear generator bracket on to the engine block were loose and the bracket itself was vibrating, along with the generator....(DOH!)....

Tightened everything up (again) and started her up...Vrooom! without the noise... at least for now!..

Larry

Bingo, glad to help.

Yep, I think so as well. However I am glad he found the noise.

DOH....

There I go again... cross-threaded the subject, just like I probably cross-threaded a bolt somewhere in my past!

Actually, I am thinking the oil leak is two-fold... the oil pan drain bolt gasket seems to be weeping... and I think the oil dip stick tube is loose and weeping...

Gotta look at them closer.
