TR2/3/3A Bullet Mirrors on TR 3's

I have always loved the Bullet mirrors as found on the TR 4 and up cars. Has anyone put them on their TR 3's? I know I know it's my car and I can hang anything on it that I desire, however I am still curious if anyone has them on their car and more importantly, where did you install them?

Thanks, Tinkerman

My car came with them. When I unbolted them, they had been broken off and remounted 3 times. I had 6 twisted holes to repair. I think they look cool. But they get hit a lot, and they are too far from your eyes and shake to much to be of much use. JMHO.

Hey Dick, Just my personal opinion, but I don't particularly care for them on the TR3 as I just don't see them as period correct to the car...even though some will say they are. I have the "Lucas" fender mirrors mounted on both fenders....which I find are next to useless. There always bumped and pointed the wrong direction and hard to adjust. If I didn't have the holes in the fenders, I'd go with something that mounts on the cowl or w/s post. If I could find one, I'd get one that can clamp onto the tennon plate, I just haven't searched that hard yet. All that said, If you want them be young and impulsive and have them.

Maybe I should mount them on my Dodge Dakota PU, heh.

Thanks for the comments. Didn't think about them being banged around and I hate shakey mirrors. Had some on a suburban, drove me nuts.

Hi Dick, I had them on a few Triumphs and never really cared for them. Even though they were mounted on the doors the field of view was not good. I finally installed rectangular mirrors on my TR6 and I find them much better. They might be more to your liking but it might be worthwhile to drive or at least sit in a car with them to see for yourself.

Yeah, the fender ones on the Roadster are all but useless. The TR6 bullet ones are on the doors and not very effective unless you get the convex ones or buy them for truck mirrors, 4 inch and they have double stick tape to place on yours, then they work OK, just be aware how much closer the image it.

They sure look sporty Wayne but, I have taken note of all the comments. In fact they went back to the seller Saturday.

I agree that the bullet mirrors may not look period correct. I replaced my original Lucas flat lens, fender mirrors with Tex spring back wing mirrors with convex lenses. They are period correct, stay in place - spring back - and the convex lens lets you see potential hazards that are normally out the field of vision. I highly recommend them. Steve
