Builders & contractors

One of those irrefutable, universal laws, methinks.

One of my pet peeves.
Which is why I always do, And if there is an OFF chance I will be late I call

Thirty years ago, an acquittance asked if I had any tips for him as he was about to start off with his own construction business. I told him I only had one and it was: "if you tell a customer you'll start on his job Wednesday, it is his belief that as of sun up Wednesday, the work will have started. To this day, in front of him (and behind his back) my friends and I refer to his renovation business as "Reluctant Construction" - He's terrible!

If you've never seen it -"Money Pit" with Tom Hanks! "Two weeks......."!

Call Mike Holmes!

If you've never seen it on HGTV, "Holmes on Homes", worth the watch.

he drives me crazy! At first we loved his show but he grates on us because he (and only he) knows everything - he always has to be the hero, kind of like Dr Phil for home renos.

jpsmith, while mr. holmes is correct in his appraisals he seems to revel in his explanations about how and why a previous contractor improperly performed a job, while this teaches his audience how to do things in the correct manner it also makes him look like the south end of a horse as its traveling north, there are methods of teaching and explaining without being audacious, demeaning, and selfrighteous, whats worse is the fact that there are too many contractors around that are as equally bombastic as mr. holmes that "dont" know at all what they are talking about, being a licensed contractor since 1984 it doesnt take too long for me to get tired of listening to mr. holmes. :tired: ------ P.S. anyone that works for me that shows up late to a job gets fired on the spot. :yesnod:

He said "you're fired." I asked why? he said, it's supposed to go squeek squeek squeek squeek. :jester:
