Bugsy II does exist and made it out of the garage to see the light of day for the first time in 28 years on Saturday. Car has front end installed and rear end is on jackstands. Dolly will be placed under rear end for loading to bring home on Saturday.

Ha Ha Ha ... er um,

Snow squall watch for
Listowel - Milverton - Northern Perth County continued

Potential for snow squalls tonight with significant snowfall.

Today may be April fools' day, but mother nature is not kidding around with the weather. A sharp cold front crossed Southern Ontario last night, and introduced a fresh round of Arctic air buffeted by brisk northwest winds. As these winds blow across the relatively warm waters of Lake Huron, an organized band of heavier snow flurries is likely to develop this evening and continue into Tuesday. It may consolidate into a fairly strong snow squall and remain nearly stationary for several hours. This would create the potential for a significant snowfall with amounts up to 15 cm possible by morning. Further amounts are likely on Tuesday, although the squall is expected to weaken in the morning.

Brisk northwest winds up to 50 or 60 km/h are expected. This will create local blowing snow and associated low visibilities.

This watch may be upgraded to a snow squall warning this evening if the heavier snow squall begins to take shape.

Travellers should exercise caution tonight into Tuesday due to restricted visibility and accumulating snow from this potential snow squall

(OK a little north but not much north!)

Yeah but I heard the forecast is for very nice Spring Type weather later in the week. Again YMMV. Anyway Nick said sunny and warmer as it got later in the week. He's going to search the garage for the bolts ofr the rear end and see if he can find the spring perch bolts so the rear end can be bolted back into the car. Hoping all of the parts and pieces are there. Sure would make it easier and safer to transport if I can have fours wheels rather than 2 wheels and a dolly to support the rear end.

Jim: From my notes, the bolts that go through the bottom pan up into the springs are 3/8 fine thread x 3 1/4" long. 2 per side. The bolts that go through the rear spring eyes into the rear end brackets are 7/16 national coarse x 2 3/4" long with nuts. 1 per side. You know you will also need the two large u-bolts and nuts that also capture the spring to the frame.

Jim

Well, that's interesting. When someone asked the other day, I measured the two bolts that pass through the front of the spring at 3/8"-24 x 3.5", not 3.25". I just checked again and this time measured all 4. Two are 3.25" and two are 3.5". They are all original bolts too... go figure... :confuse:

I'd use the longer ones.

the only thing I remember is going to the local bolt and nut store for a grade5 3/8-24 fine thread..no rust after 20yrs up there

Hey Nick did tell me Thursday is the first day expected to be above 0 degrees C in a while. Now I'm told by OH BMV that since car is not fully assembled that they want to license as a 2013/14 Kit Car. Oh my God, the pinheads I'm going to need to fight with. Idiots, idiots, surrounded by idiots. I may need to get creative on this one.

The bad weather forcast was one huge April fools joke and you guys swallow it hook line and....ha ha

I just wish it was a joke.... sigh. Saturday they are calling for 42 deg (6 C) arrrgghhhh

Hey JP. Does such a thing as a Title/Registration Form exist for CA Cars older than X years. In some states in the US no such thing as a title is needed on cars older than 20-25 years. I can see now that Ohio will run me through hoops as since car is not assembled when it crosses the border it needs to be classified as an Unassembled Car - Assembled from Parts and Titles as a 2014 or 2015 whenever I get it done - Kit Car. WTH???? Pinheads. This one may need legal help to deal with the BMV. I think it's time to back and talk to the pinheads once I get car back and get it put together. Before I show to them and discuss registration

Agreed!

Jim,

California requires titles, no matter how old the vehicle is.

I know it would be a little extra work, but why not assemble the rear axle assembly put the engine and gearbox in the engine bay and make it look complete. I'm not familiar at all with the rules on this (nor have I ever heard of such a thing), but I would think having all the body parts on and the running gear installed would qualify as a complete car. It'll surely be less work than dealing with the bureaucracy. I'm sure all of that could be accomplished in less than a day. You going to have any help along with you?

Got Nick working on Rear Axle tomorrow. I think he sort of volunteered to put it back in.Dropping engine in, 4 bolts and tranny mount. Make it 8 bolts. My plan is to not deal with the bureaucracy, in Ohio you need to have Out of State Vehicles inspected by a State Patrol / local gendarme and then you can go and apply for a title. If all put together before I call the local "inspector" who's to know the difference. Bill of Sale, Notarized from CA will not specify as unassembled. Now as long as the BMV person did not put a reference to the VIN # in the computer to flag it...when I attempt to register.

Can I pull the tranny off and just drop engine in assuming Nick has a hoist I brought my block and tackle along anyway.

Nothing to support the rear of the engine if the transmission is not attached. You might be able to fashion some support mechanism, but if it fails, the engine will fall out. It'll be a lot easier to just leave the transmission attached. The rear is self supporting on the crossmember and can't go anywhere as long as the motor mounts are attached. Even so, a 5/16"-24 bolt through each side of the tunnel (from interior) is all you'd need anyway. The radiator will sit in place just being dropped in too.

Same inspection rules here in California.

Cool, Thanks Gerard.

Can the Ontario seller apply for a lost permit ? then you can have an Ontario registration to use for Ohio Registration process ?

https://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/replace.shtml

[h=2]Replacing your Vehicle Permit[/h]A vehicle permit can be replaced/re-issued in the name of the current owner recorded on the Vehicle Registration System. If plates are attached to the vehicle, the permit issued will contain both the plate and vehicle portions. For an unplated vehicle, you will also receive a permit with both portions but the plate portion will not have any information about the plate/plate owner.
To replace a permit for a vehicle registered to you, visit a Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office and complete an Application for Registration. Please bring proof of personal identification.
For information on replacing a permit for a vehicle not registered in your name, or you are the vehicle owner, but are outside Ontario please call the ServiceOntario's Driver and Vehicle Contact Centre at 416-235-2999 or toll free at 1-800-387-3445 (Canada wide).

Jer,

Got a copy of letter from Quebec BMV showing proof of ownership for current owner for past 28 years. Registration evidently is not available for this BE. That along with Notarized Bill of Sale will allow me to title in OH. Now to fight the battle of titling as a '59 BE or as an Unassembled Vehicle - Kit of Parts as a 2014 /2015 Sprite as a Kit Car as the Ohio BMV is carrently asking me to do. Going to stop asking for process and put it together and then ask for an Inspection including a British Heritage Trust Certificate showing Proof of Manufacure Date.
