Bugger - is this spring pan salvageable?

I just noticed the spring pan that I was planning on using for the disc brake conversion has taken a hit. Can this be reworked so it has the proper dimensions? I'm pretty comfortable that I can do that, should I do it is another question.

If not, is the spring pan on the drum brake cars the same? If so, couldn't I just swap this bent one out for a good one that is currently on the car?

I'd think you could beat that back into shape. The bolt holes seem to be OK. It only holds the bottom of the spring. I might be more concerned about the possible distortion of the A-arm.

Looks fine from here. I would just knock it straight and paint and use.
 
If all we are talking about is the dent in the lower control arm then just wack it back in shape.

Remember "Newton's Body and Fender" favorite rule, " with ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction". Of course, with me, the oppsite reaction usually involves a big tree and a chain.

Spring pans should be the same for either disk or drum brakes. If you've got a spare I think I'd use it, unless you really want to take some frustration out on the pan you've got.

LOL. I tend to agree now that I know that these are all interchangeable. It is nice to whack the heck out of something once in a while. I'm learning to do body work on one of the other LBCs and I have to say that hammering metal back into shape is very gratifying.

Pans are I think all the same.
 
Take a look at the Moss site and you can see there is a bracket that bolts to the lower A arm for use with a sway bar. You can just make a backing plate for the other side of the A arm, bolt it up and go. I see one hole in the A arm in your picture, is there another? If so that area may already be reinforced for use with the sway bar. I'm not at home so I can't take a look at mine to see if there is reinforcement built in to the A arm of not...but I don't think so.
