I just discovered my wiper arms are for a right-hand drive Bugeye. Anyone here need right-hand drive arms? Also, I need to remove the wiper blade drive cable/worm gear clean and greese it. Will it just pull out after I disconnect at the motor, or do I need to get under the dash and remove the works? Oh, my wipers stop where ever they are when I turn the motor off. I don’t think that’s normal.

Paul, I have a RHD - I´d want them!

I am afraid you will have to take off the dashboard. AFAIK you can´t remove the wiper wheelboxes otherwise.

Send me your address to <GuitarsWeB@cox.net> When I get my new ones I’ll mail them to you. I’m not taking the dash off! They are a little on the slow side, about one second each swipe. I never drive in the rain. I have never had the top up.

Paul, to grease the cable all that you need to do is to remove the wipers arm and all. Disconnect the cable from the crank at the wiper motor and pull out the cable. Clean and grease and push it back in. When you take the cover off your wiper gear box you will see the switch contact that is supposed to control your wiper parking. The wiper leads are always hot and the wipers are controlled by being grounded through the switch and the parking contact arm when the switch is turned off. So, for safety, disconnect the battery before working on them. Not uncommon for some one to hook things up wrong and ruin the parking contact. I've encountered that on two motors.

Kurt.

No doubt that’s what has happened. Motors are not cheap, even used.

You may be able to afford some sort of a repair. The little contact appears to be only a springy bit brass. I never tried since I had a good one.

Let me get this right; to remove the cable drive, disconnect at the motor, then just pull it out. Or, do I have to remover the wiper arm drive?

Not quite that easy but yes, just pull it out after you take the wipers off. All the cable does is drive a gear in the wiper wheel boxes so as you pull the cable the spindles that drive the wiper blades will turn round and round. I'm sure once you get in there it will evident how they work.
