What is the stamp in front of the firewall supposed to correspond to? Is that the chassis number?
I know this has been discussed before. Searching on this forum is sometimes a bit tricky though...
 
The VIN is on a removeable plate in front of the firewall and just out from the carbs. The other numbers you find stamped around are just manufactures numbers, nothing more.
 
VictoraBritish.com has an excelent list of all no.s (vin and motor) on page 10 of the Sprite and midget catalog.
