Bugeye transmission

Yes. Make sure you install the 1275 too. Its the best way to keep it looking totally stock and big difference on performance.
 
Yes- the tranny will fit fine either way, just check before you put the assembly in the car that the clutch yoke moves properly in the tranny hole and appears to contact the pressure plate before the the yoke hits the back of the hole.

Don't you need to change the back plate on the engine? Or maybe I'm incorrect but I thought there was a difference in backplates between a Rib Case and a Smoothcase. Someone who's done this please educate us.
 
Actually you don't need to change it, the thickness change is only around 1/8" and the spline/clutch takes care of any problems there.
The only combination problems are if you put a smoothcase tranny up to a 1098 engine the pressure plate fouls the tranny bellhousing and needs to be cleared (this is only because the 1098 pressure plate is HUGE).
