Does anyone have any experience repairing the springs in the top bow? I was very lucky to buy a very nice looking bow from Ray in TN on the floor and lots of rust comes out.

Do you think that several soakings in pb blaster would loosen it all up? It doesnt appear to come apart.

As far as I know does not come apart. Soak it and resoak and work it, prob will be fine.

Mine originally was a wreck, too. I just oiled it to loosen up the spring mechanism, then painted it. No great difficulty with painting, and I'm happy with the results. If you have a lot of loose rust (I just had a small amount), you probably need to get rid of most of it or you'll have a mess in the car. My first preference would be to shake it out, but this may not be good enough, and you'll have to use some kind of remover. Then, you need to get rid of any residual rust remover (which might be acid) and any water needed to flush it.
