Bugeye Tire Size and Wide White Walls

I really want to sell the Anson sprite wheels that came on my Bugeye. Right now I have a bid on a set of original steel bugeye wheels on ebay. (Let me know if anyone else is planning on bidding against me!)

But what size tires do most of you guys run on your Bugeye? Also, I'm thinking I would like to get wide white walls! LOL! Other than Coker, does anyone else know of a place to get big white walls in a size that would fit a bugeye?

I saw these at Coker, but they aren't cheap! Then again they are a bargain compared to the tires I bought for my Land Rover! lol!

Here's another newbie question.... do the original steel wheels require tubes?

If I remember correctly they do not require tubes. Close to original tire size would be 145x13.

Early rims were riveted together, so when I did run them, I had them tack welded.

Reading through the archieves seems like 155/80-13 is a popular size for Bugeyes. I have them on my car now, but they seem to rub in the front, then again, I don't know how wide the Ansen Sprite wheels are. I dunno!

The original tires were closer to 78 ratio.

They are 60/70's looking slotted mags.

I have a set of Bugeye wheels that I got from 'Billm' several months ago. They are nice, but need painting (not rusty, etc.). LMK if the ones on eBay don't pan out.
