Bugeye seat question

I'm finishing up my Bugeye seats and followed Ray's pictoral on padding and clip location and have one more question. On the rear there is a part of the seat pan made to accept the upholstery, but on Whitephrogs pictures it shows the rear upholstery clipped to the upper edge. Ray's pictures allow space for the 3 tabs on the frame to fit above the rear lip of the seat pan, the 'original' design does not...you have to cut 3 slots. Which would be the better way?
Thanks, Rut

I wouldn't cut anything. Do a trial fit and I think you will find its not necessary.

Kurt.

Kurt,
Do you just let the 3 tabs punch holes in the vinyl? For the life of me I can't figure this out unless I attach it to the top edge of the seat pan?
Rut

Rut, the original way of attaching the vinyl at the back was to have the clips attach a doubled over strip on the vertical lip at the back of the seat pan. You still have enough of the material that I think you could do that. You will need more clips since a lot were used by the factory. When the vinyl is attached in that way the three straps are not a problem. Try a search of that and if you are not successful I may be able to come up with a picture.

Kurt.

Kurt,
Thanks, that sounds like the pictures I have of Whitephrog...Ray took some detailed pictures, but it doesn't look right until you put it in the seat frame.
Rut

Kurt,
I followed your instructions and Rays pictures and the seat fits perfectly! I used GM clips that have a rounded edge on the inside to prevent them from cutting into the vinyl and all is good.
Thanks, Rut

Rut do you have a source for GM clips?

Or any clips for that matter?

Thanks Rut
